The best way to catch a haggis is of course to put a potato and a small turnip in the pan. They love them and fall for the trick every time.
Unfortunately they are an endangered species as you probably know. Not helped by the fact that the legs of the male are longer on one side for the reason you mention. However, the females have legs longer on the other side. So it's very rare for them to meet especially in the breeding season. They keep passing each other as they run in opposite directions.
You may be interested to learn that the Haggis Protection League have started to encourage the production of Mock Haggis or Vegetarian Haggis. Which, in the view of many, is akin to wearing boxer shorts under your sledge kilt.
