Didn't we recently touch on the subject of where the most red-haired people are? IIRC, we had a map that showed that apart from Ireland, Scotland & Wales, the next biggest concentration seemed to be in Siberia. Without an explanation why.

I knew a Syrian once called Andrew. He was a Christian and had blue eyes, ginger hair and a face full of freckles. I asked if his ancestors were Scottish but he said no, he was pure Syrian and there were lots of people like him there. I do hope he's all right.

I believe Neanderthals were on the ginger side as well.

The Tocharian mummies of China also had red hair.

Complicated and confused by Egyptian wannabies who dyed their hair red.

Can you get back to your Syrian friend? He must have roots (sic)

Some people dye their hair blue when they grow grey.

What the article tells us is that his hair was originally red even though he cheated a bit in old age.

I don't see any problem here, until you add in either trendy genetic theory, or orthodox linguistics, to confuse things

If (and it's a big if) the map is correct, your red heads have lived in the red areas since the Mesolithic. Some then migrated away from these areas.

The other evening someone wearing an orange cap popped up on telly, he said it was very helpful in avoiding being shot by mistake, more of a priority than camouflage. 'Hunter orange' is apparently de rigueur in most of the US.

I'm sure that Buddhist monks aren't supposed to say 'dang'.
