I entirely agree. Geometry, as the ancients understood it, was a simple and practical business. The 'science', that is the academic systematisation of the subject, is a modern business with, even now, only very limited applications.

Hat tip to the TME team for their dedicated monitoring of the Al Beeb output.

They (the BBC) are getting excited about Cat's Brain.

Not just any old cat's brain; it's the olde Cat's Brain mound. They are getting awfully excited about this that and the high-status ritual other. Without once mentioning the TME significance. It is almost exactly on the Stonehenge longitude. And exactly on the magnetic north line from Stonehenge towards Avebury.

Now noted on the TME map of the universe.

But some might say "what's all the excitement about?".

The Making of Prehistoric Wiltshire (by David Field, Dave McOmish) points out that these mounds are widespread, about every 2Km, and while called "mortuary enclosures" often contain no human remains at all.

That's an excellent spot, Borry.

Cat's Brain is an intriguing name, it sounds like a mutation of something else.

The ever-reliable Wiki says
The name "Catbrain" derives from the Middle English "cattes brazen"[2] which is a reference to the rough clay mixed with stones that is characteristic soil type of the location.

Is the assumption that this resembles a cat's brain? There are loads of places that have terrain consisting of 'rough clay mixed with stones' (including my garden) but it's a very uncommon name. The Catbrain described in the article is just north of Bristol, in South Gloucestershire.

Brain could be a 'Bran' perhaps? Cat's is reminiscent of 'Coty' as in Kit's Coty, one of the best-known of the Medway Megaliths but could be entirely unrelated.

We have a lovely Austrian couple from Oberndorf staying with us, on a Megalithic pilgrimage.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oberndorf_in_Tirol

In which town there is a famous ancient copper mine. Rerobichl
http://www.oberndorf-tirol.at/de/bergba ... bichl.html

But they flew from Kitzbühel via Frankfurt, not walking overland via the Doggerland or Rhine-Thames trail route with copper ingots.

Thanks to them, I've learnt of another Circle.

Poemmelte Circle (German)

This appears to be due magnetic north of the Goseck Circle. Now added to the TME Map of The Megalithic Universe.

Glastonbury Festival, 3,300BC?

Two prehistoric wooden structures 20 miles north of Stonehenge are 800 years older than previously thought, scientists have revealed. The circles, which may have been used for festivals or rituals, at West Kennet near Avebury are now believed to have been built in 3300BC. New radiocarbon dating tests have been carried out by Historic England. Professor Alex Bayliss said finding "palisades of this time is completely unprecedented in British archaeology". The structures stretched over 4km (2.5 miles) and were built with more than 4,000 trees.

I'm advised that we should follow the old straight track to the Ukraine which has a civilisation going back to at least 22,000 BC.

Lots of standing stones, stone circles, pyramids.
This is apparently where the Middle East lot got their ideas from in about 3,000 BC.

We need a world-leading author to lead the way.
The old straight track might mean the Central Line from Knotting Hull.
Perhaps Harpo can get there on the Central Line with his Freedom Pass for Senior Ciitzens?

Lughnasadh meets Brittania, the Earth Mother, and The Lady of The Lake.
Swallowhead is a sacred womb and magical things are given birth at Silbury.
The River Kennet is Kunnet is Kunnt and is not a rude word.
A good time is had by all.

This reminds me of the women, mainly Hungarian I think, who I met at West Kennet while doing a quick recce. They were sitting in a sort of prayer circle, holding hands, and had come (by coach) to honour the Mother Goddess.

No-one seems to leave trash or do any damage though I gather there have been objections about the masses of 'clouties' left at some shrines.

Here's another date for the TME diary. All inmates welcome (on day release only).

How the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site (WHS) can add value to your business
Tuesday 26 September
(2pm - 4.30pm) Wiltshire Museum, Devizes

A VisitWiltshire networking event including an opportunity to meet the Stonehenge and Avebury WHS team including the importance of the WHS to tourism, how to explain the WHS to your visitors and where to find further information. Places are limited. Book here.

You may, if you wish, feel free to quiz them about the new A303 Dual Carriageway (Stonehenge Bypass). Some say it should be extended further north and south (as well as east and west), to make it easier for mega-tourists to get there. Your mileage may vary.
