Wiktionary gives several pages of examples of Gaelic words from Norse.

While this site debates the similarities between Scots and Norwegian. It also has an Old Norse for beginners section for those interested.

There are hundreds (thousands?) of English words in French. What is the point you are trying to make?

Why are there so few words from Welsh in English?

There are reputedly eight. This is discussed in THOBR but it doesn't seem to support either side of the argument (me or orthodoxy). It's a mystery frankly.

After years of trying I can only listen to suggestions.

In search of Welsh suggestions, I am just going outside (of this forum) and may be some time.

But before I go, did we discuss Scottish Brochs?

In a way that is familiar to us (see The Ridgeway), the usual suspects are grudgingly admitting they're probably not forts after all, but are at a loss to understand what they really are for. The distribution of these does however make sense when viewing the practical logistics of a Norwegian Trade network.

Yes, we have wondered about brochs for a long time but your map is astonishing. Not only had I no idea that they were distributed so markedly to the north-east (and the presumed Scandinavian routes round the west) but nobody seems to have mentioned this transcendent fact when discussing them. They're obviously Norwegian (or somesuch) so go for it, Borry.

I was surprised they diidn't suggest "It Wos The Vikings Wot Dunnit". i.e. Vikings doing in Scotland what the Normans are supposed to have done in Wales, going around building towers everywhere. (I say supposed because I have a little revisionist Welsh agenda tucked up my sleeve for later)
