The Seljuks were a bunch of horse-traders. Probably illiterate. The inhabitants of Anatolia were the heirs to every civilisation going. Since the very first. Ditto the Anglo-Saxons vis a vis the Brits more or less. This is an important point because when there is a gulf the other way eg European settlers in the Americas, Australasia and so forth then the incomers might, wittingly or unwittingly, wipe out the natives.

The Mongols were good with horses as well. And they tended to wipe people out, perhaps they were Anglo Saxons in disguise?

Where have the pyramids of skulls gone?

I expect the TME Admin Staff are preoccupied with figuring out where the missing posts are hiding.

While they're busy with that, I'd like to ask if anyone has read "All Done With Mirrors" by John Neal? A work on ancient metrology, following in the footsteps of Mitchell.

The missing posts are not hiding.

They were always there.

Nowt wrong with you eyesight Borry. I was being oblique. A bit too slanted perhaps.

I think the mongols came and took them away.

I thought something had gone wrong but after a bottle or two things do start to look a little different.

Perhaps academic archaeologists and such like have discovered a way of hacking into the site?

Yes, I did wonder whether we had inadvertently wandering into a Terra Incognito that was off piste, even by TME's informal standards. Or had we awoken a long-sleeping forum moderator?

Bump.

There's a rather good review here: http://www.john-michell-network.org/pdf ... ickers.pdf

John Neal's own summary of it is here: http://www.secretacademy.com/

IIRC, in one of the "Disappeared" posts, Mick mentioned pyramids of skulls made by the new overlords.

So, presumably, the pyramids of human skulls were donated by the preceding (now departed) overlords?

And, presumably, the unmentioned/dumb natives were the business asset worth keeping during the hostile takeover?
