Many years ago the Ness (Isle of Lewis) local history society were able to fund a history gathering project and get local young people involved.
The idea was to get the young to meet the old and talk about the old days etc for the archives.
One lad knocked on the door and asked the lady who answered if she 'had any local history' as they were collecting it.
She thought for a moment went back into the house and returned with a copy of 'The Illustrated Adventures of Rob Roy'.
Which the lad took back to the history society in triumph.
There was a rethink on tactics after that.
They did go on to success though.
