Your pet content providers and reviewers are eagerly awaiting a DVD in the post.

Just so long as it's got a Parental Guidance certificate or something like that.

M'Lady doesn't want any more of that Mega(lithic) Porn and full-frontal Beltain in plain brown wrappers.

We are arranging for two copies to be sent toot sweet. Report safe arrival. One is for your personal use, the other is to be placed in a time capsule to be dug up by visiting aliens in the distant future. Put in the usual collection of artefacts to show them what our civilisation once produced. A copy of Magna Carta, Michael Jackson's Thriller, you know the sort of thing.

The contents of the TME Time Capsule are gradually accumulating. I sent out an appeal via our village website for "historically significant artefacts". Faster than you could say "car boot sale rejects", the reception area of Chateau Boreades was full-to-overflowing with donations.

The pick of the crop so far?

- The Very Best Of Mrs Mills CD
- The Platinum Collection DVD (Rolf Harris)
- God Save The Queen CD (Sex Pistols)
- Sony Betamax video player
- Green Shield stamp albums (various)
- 1200 baud modem
- 8-bit Ethernet cards
- Epson dot-matrix printer (parallel port version)
- McDonalds Happy Meals (selected toys, 1997-2010 inclusive)

Strangely these doesn't seem to be don't seem to be the kind of "artefacts" I envisaged in the appeal.

M'Lady Boreades has kindly suggested a safe place for the repository, somewhere between the septic tank and the chicken manure compost pile.

'Strangely these doesn't seem to be don't seem to be the kind of "artefacts" I envisaged in the appeal.'

Many years ago the Ness (Isle of Lewis) local history society were able to fund a history gathering project and get local young people involved.

The idea was to get the young to meet the old and talk about the old days etc for the archives.

One lad knocked on the door and asked the lady who answered if she 'had any local history' as they were collecting it.

She thought for a moment went back into the house and returned with a copy of 'The Illustrated Adventures of Rob Roy'.

Which the lad took back to the history society in triumph.

There was a rethink on tactics after that.

They did go on to success though.

Is it a modest success, or are they just shy of publishing it? I hope this doesn't sound harsh, but their website seem to be light on content.

And what was it about Rob Roy that they disapproved of?

I think it was the Illustrated history of Rob Roy bit. You know those great big children's books with hairy highlanders in kilts jumping over mountains.

They were more after what the local people were up to. What granny MacCracken was doing with the chicken entrails and the eye of newt sort of thing.

They do have a Facebook page although I'm not sure how that thing works. Most of their stuff is the old fashioned kind of thing. You have to go and read the documents in the library or look at the exhibition etc.

Here are some of the founders from the seventies.

Not very fierce are they? I doubt if they could hold a claymore between them. But they are rather a handsome lot and all MacLeods by the look of things.
